Homemade fly and bug repellent for horses

Please remember to try out a small amount with any of these formula's
on your horse as some are more sensitive then others
and could have a reaction.

Fly Spray 1
1 tablespoon eucalyptus Oil
1 to 2 tablespoons Citronella Oil
 1 Tablespoon Camphor Oil
1/3 to 1/2 cup hair conditioner (the cheapest will do)
1/3 to 1/2 cup baby oil
1 cup Pine Sol (original formula)
fill remainder of 32 oz. bottle with water.
Increase the citronella a little when you reduce the Pine Sol
content. If you decide to play with the recipe, remember that you must
have an emulsifier to break down the oils, mix the ingredients into a solution, and enable you to spray this as a fine mist. Pine Sol has a
lot of emulsifier; the hair conditioner has some too (the Suave has quite a bit, other brands not so much).

Fly Spray 2
An easy do it yourself fly spray that is relatively inexpensive, and I'm
told it really works! This spray attracts dust. So don't use it before
a show.
            2 cups light mineral oil
            1/2 cup lemon juice
              2 tsp. citronella oil
            2 tsp. eucalyptus oil
            2 tsp. lemon dish detergent
               optional 1/4c glycerin
Mix in a spray bottle and spray away!

             Fly Spray 3
               1 oz. Citronella Oil
               2 oz. Skin-So-Soft or Coat-So-Soft
               1 Cup Cider Vinegar
               1 cup Water

Fly Spray 4 - if in a pinch
Mix in a 20 oz. spray bottle.
1/4 pin-sol
 3/4 water

I've tried this in a pinch one time when I ran out of my regular spray
and it worked better then most water base store brands that you buy!

And my favorite

Fly Spray 5
1/3 citronella oil (I use the regular lamp oil)
1/3 pine sol
1/3 water
add a few drops of hair conditioner
mix it up in a spray bottle and go to town!
You can make this stronger to suite your needs.
I also will sometime use cider vinegar instead of the oil
for the lighter bug season before they get too bad..
